F.A.Q.s
Here is a list of the most Frequently Asked Questions about SFAbooks.com. If you do not see the answer to your question, email me and I will do my best to answer your question.
Q. How does this site work?
A. Your fellow students will sell you their textbooks because you will give them more money than a bookstore buyback. Your fellow students will buy your textbooks because it is cheaper than the bookstore price. This website kindly brings everyone together.
Q. How long will it take before my books sell?
A. Not long if you post in January, August, or September. These are the busiest times of the year for selling books.
Q. What's my book worth?
A. If you bought your book from the bookstore, sell it for half of what you paid. If you bought the book from a SFAbooks.com user, then sell it for the same amount you paid. This is just my opinion. Just don't try to rip off your fellow students... leave that to the bookstores.
Q. How long will my book be listed online?
A. Each book is listed for three months or until you remove it (whichever comes first).
Q. How do I exchange money for the books?
A. This is up to you. Contact each other through the site to discuss payments. I suggest meeting someplace public like the UC to make the exchange.
Q. How do I rate my professors?
A. Once you register and login, you can rate your professors. All comments are anonymous.
Q. Can I tell people that I think my prof is a fat jerk?
A. No. Although everyone appreciates your honesty, it is more helpful to talk about the class and teaching style instead of dietary habits or personality differences.
Q. Were my comments about a professor changed?
A. Maybe. If any comments are found to be derogatory or unhelpful (in my opinion) they will be deleted or edited.
Q. How can I retreive my password if I forgot it?
A. Click here and we will send you a new password. You can then login and change it to whatever you want.
Q. This site was better when it was free.
A. That's not a question.
Q. How come this site costs five bucks?
A. The site is still free to list up to two books, if you want to add more than two, I ask for a small one-time donation to cover the expense of running the site (i.e hosting, domain registration, etc). It is totally worth it. For the price of a Value Meal at McDonald's, you can save money on your college textbooks. Here's the bottom line: This site has already saved students hundreds of dollars.
